Wracking up impressive box office numbers right across the globe, the arrival of The Simpsons Movie onto the big screen proved, for many, to be more than worth the wait. But with its DVD release, there’s a compelling argument that Springfield’s finest have come back to their natural home. The film itself is primarily Homer-centred, with the head of The Simpsons family seemingly consigning Springfield to certain doom when he dumps his waste where he shouldn’t. But, in the true spirit of the show, the plot takes a relative back seat to the antics … More >>

I am a absolt fan of the simpsons so when i herd they were realsing a movie i went busserk! I was realy looking forward to the film but when i saw it i was in one word ‘dissapointed’. The humor seemed to be more somthing a 6 year old would laugh at not that witty clever humor that is in most other simpson epersiods. I got the imppresion that they were aiming this film at young children not older children and adult. A few parts did bring a smile to my face but it could have been so much better it lacked the simpsons magic i was hopping for and i was greatly dissapointed and feeled that they missed out on a opertunity to produce a great film.

I can only assume that Fox waited so long to cash in on a movie deal because someone somewhere said they should wait for a decent script. Well they almost did, unfortunately we have all been programmed to half hour shows, so the movie appears to be over long. Having said that, it is funny. You may have to watch it twice to catch all the film in-jokes and digs at Fox. As for the Spider Pig, brilliant, Homer at his best; although the pig goes for a walk at one point and never reappears, one of a couple of unanswered plot shifts. But what the hay, grab a box of doughnuts, slob back and watch.

The Simpsons has been on the air for over 20 years and I think we can all say we are all fans. But the truth is I haven’t watched the series in 7 years, nor did I see the Movie at my local cinema.
Why you ask? The episodes have gotten lamer and lamer and not to mention Homer has gone from Hilariously stupid to UnbelivablY ANNOYING! I literally watched this movie and felt like Homer was becoming a cross between Spongebob, Scrappy Doo and Jar Jar Binks rolled into one.
But I will give this movie points for envolving the WHOLE family and a story that fits well with a movie.
Even though this movie was a dissapointment, ther is something to look forward to……
FUTURAMA IS COMING BACK! TAKE THAT SIMPSONS!

I have to admit I had little faith in this film, I thought it was going to be a disaster and I had already started to find the Simpsons TV show slightly stale and to be honest it seems to get less funny the longer it goes on. I was however a huge Simpsons fan growing up and when my brother got it on DVD for Christmas and said I should watch it I thought what was no harm in giving it a go.
So I put the DVD in the player and prepared to be disappointed, but this film suprised me greatly. It is funny, its builds upon the characters in the TV series and it is immensely watchable. Homer is allowed to further develop the charcter that is so well loved, a deeply flawed individual with a deep love for his family and a desire to make them proud. Lets face it we are all a bit like Homer from time to time, we say the wrong thing and do the wrong things because we just do not think.
There have been a lot of negative reviews of this film and maybe they are people who watch the newer series of the Simpsons and find them hillarious, but whatever your opinion its worth a go, you will most likely find yourself laughing at least once. I’d especially recommend it if you have given up on the Simpsons series as repeats of the same jokes a million times does slight grate on your nerves as this at least offers some new angles for a wonderful group of characters.
